Groundbreaking ceremony for the new plywood mill
On 10th July 2019, Burapha held the formal groundbreaking ceremony for the plywood mill at the site in Hinheup District, Vientiane Province. The ceremony was overseen by the Deputy Prime Minister, Mr Sonexay Siphondone and other government dignitaries. Mr Siphondone has been a longtime supporter of Burapha and the plantation and wood industry in Laos.
The plywood project is partly financed by a loan from European Development Banks who did an extensive due diligence prior to the signing of the loan agreement.
The cutting-edge equipment is supplied by the Finnish company RAUTE. It is the latest technology for producing high quality laminated veneer products. The mill will produce 50,000+ m3 per annum, mainly Eucalyptus plywood with and option of face and back veneer in plantation teak, Okoume, Walnut or different films (phenolic and melamine). The mill will be producing long grain plywood and LVL, both 2440x1220 mm and 2400x1200 mm in thicknesses between 4 and 45 mm.
